This July 4th, I met some friends out at Krause Springs in Spicewood Texas, to celebrate 'Merica'; as well as (& more importantly) my best friend Claire's birthday. Having grown up in Austin, Krause Springs, was one of those staple swimming holes that I always looked forward to diving into. Equipped with some amazing hollowed out trees, along with a rope swing, and a natural waterfall that trickles down a collection of vines to the entrance of these underwater caves below; this place is a nature lovers dream. Not only is this a fun day spot for a swim but its also great for a night or two of camping. There really is nothing like spending the day under the sun with good company, eating good food, drinking a few beers and sleeping out under the stars. We also got to enjoy the annual fireworks show that Krause Springs puts on every fourth. As I watched the night sky ignite into a fiery rainbow, and observed several groups of little kids dance around the open field with sparklers, I was truly mesmerized by the moment and was able to be thankful for the freedom I have and the people that make everything worth while.
